If you like to be in control of every aspect of your life, you will find this message important.
Can you magine being in control of your health? Not feeling helpless when you leave a doctor's office, feeling no better than when you came in?
Has that happened to you?
Did you go in with expectations and come out disappointed, not knowing which way to turn?
You probably came out with a script in your hand that may reduce your symptoms but not feeling any better.
To empower your health, here are some tips:
1. Diagnostics are critical and demand a copy for your records.
2. Insist that your doctor test Vitamin D every single time lab work is done.
3. Insist that your doctor do a full thyroid panel every time, not just TSH.
Doctors are busy, important issues get overlooked, and yes, they are not perfect. So, you have to help them out and chart the course of your own health.
You should know, that 70% of people make doctor's appointments for problems that arise due to a lifestyle or food that the body is not happy with. I know it's a shocking statement, but the truth, nevertheless.
The body has rules, like baseball or football, and when you break the rules, you can lose the game, or the crowd may throw things at you. The rules are unbreakable, unchanging, you can't make deals with the body. In the end, it rules.
The problem arises when the mind says I want to eat this because I like it, and the body says no way. Like an expensive car, the body runs on premium fuel, not regular, but premium, the third pump at the gas station.
And that fuel is so simple. PLANTS. Lot of plants. Processed food, sugar, dairy, simple carbs are out. The goal is 80% plants, 20% animal protein. In this country, it is the other way around which makes the body very cross.
HEALTH COACHING
Health coaches help people to play the game, learn the rules, and become better pitchers through accountability, planning and support than trying to learn body baseball on your own. It's a fact.

diabetes, you name it, is out with three strikes.

· Good news rarely follows the devastation caused by World War. Lost lives, jobs and the familiarity of everyday reality is upended affecting every aspect of life. Food and water, the basic Rfactors that sustain life, are no less affected as well. However, in the country of Norway, positive health effects did come out of World War II.
Every country has a unique cuisine that reflects the available food supply and often those tastes may be peculiar to others. Some traditional Norwegian dishes include farikal, pickled herring, sheep’s head, brown cheese and smoked salmon. The second World War changed that for the people of Norway.
Once the country was occupied by the Germans, all of the livestock that provided meat, butter, milk and cheese was confiscated to feed the German army. The first food casualties were sugar, coffee and flour, followed by all imported foods and eventually, bread and provisions from livestock. This left Norwegians little of their cultural cuisine, requiring them to live off the land. They were given one ration book per family member to buy certain food items.
In order to combat the lack of food, they returned to fishing, hunting, and farming. Potatoes, Swedish turnips and carrots became staples in garden patches, even flower beds were turned into potato fields. Because there was no wheat to harvest, root vegetables such as turnips and other edibles were dried and ground into flour.
Here is the interesting part. Before the war, deaths from heart disease and stroke were rising at an alarming rate. During the occupation from 1940 to 1945, there was a precipitous drop in cardiovascular events as published in The Lancet, one of the world’s leading medical journals. Norwegians were more active, lived off the land and consumed significantly more plant-based foods.
Unfortunately, as the war ended and animal products became more available, heart disease returned to pre-war levels. Thankfully, a more recent trend has been to focus on prevention programs, smoking reduction and better care for the population. Young people have also been a driving force toward a plant -based diet with many vegan and vegetarian restaurants opening.
On a personal note, I am certain that being a vegetarian/vegan for the last 45 years has allowed me to remain vertical, disease free and working with no thought of retirement. As long as I can get into the pool at 5:30 in the morning, ride my bike as I did when I was six and plan for the future, I have won. There is no question that my 80-year-old body is sending the message that the party will not go on forever, but for now, I will treasure and be grateful for every pain-free, active, working moment possible.
Headaches, GI symptoms, joint pain, lethargic, disturbed sleep, multiple chemical sensitivities, strange pains, dizziness.
And you may have been diagnosed with IBS, Chronic fatigue Syndrome, Arthritis, Depression, and finally, if you don’t make medical sense to the doctor, he thinks it’s all in your head.
Your friends and family don’t understand, your job is in jeopardy, and you have no answers.
Mold toxicity is rarely considered by the medical profession as any condition to be looked at, even though exposure to mold spores can create havoc in every organ of the body and compromise the immune system.
All but 25% of people can make antibodies to mold toxins, but if you are the only one sick in your building, which may have had a leak with water standing in the walls generating mold, why would you think the building was the cause. Mold toxicity is found in many foods as well.
This 25% makes up the mold patients that I see. Treating mold toxicity is a long, arduous process requiring close observation at a careful pace that is different for everyone.
If this even slightly describes your physical state, it is worth pursuing as to whether you may have a mold toxicity generated condition.
On a personal note, I suffered with mold toxicity until I went to Georgia, an Eastern European country to address my symptoms and a mycotoxin profile was the first test given. On a couple of occasions, I have had to cross international borders to find progressive and astute doctors who were willing to listen and treated with an open mind.

Hyaluronic Acid for Interstitial Cystitis
By Betty McDonald, L.Ac
Hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate) is a gooey, clear substance produced by the body and
found in all connective tissue. It is well-known as a humectant that attracts and binds to
moisture; One molecule can absorb up to 1,000 times its weight in water.
In the bladder it extends to antibiotics as well, eliminating side effects and systemic toxicity
plump skin tissue and make it softer. Hyaluronic acid injections are also used in patients with osteoarthritis that no longer responds to pain medication. In both cases, it has been FDA approved.
But there is another lesser-known use for hyaluronic acid that is just as important (if not
more). In the treatment for interstitial cystitis, hyaluronic acid is injected into the bladder to
restore the glycosaminoglycans (GAG) layer which has been destroyed by infection or
inflammation. When administered as such, patients can recover more quickly.
'a healthy GAGlayer is very important because it inhibits the ability of bacteria to adhere to the bladder wall
reducing the number of chronic urinary infections. Not surprisingly, doctors currently
view interstitial cystitis as a manageable, but incurable, condition.
Interstitial cystitis is a defect in the protective lining of the bladder which allows toxic substances
to irritate the bladder wall. It can be hereditary or caused by an autoimmune reaction. Those who
suffer are plagued with pelvic pain, urinary urgency and insomnia caused by nocturia (awaking
to urinate during the night). Affecting men and women of all ages, the condition not only impacts
the patient’s quality of life but can also lead to loss of work.
Hyaluronic acid is approved for use in the treatment of interstitial cystitis in Canada and England
but not in the United States. Efforts have been made by major medical institutions like Michigan
School of Medicine and University of California Irvine to use intravesical bladder instillations of
heparin and chondroitin sulfate (two other components of the bladder wall), but use of
hyaluronic acid is yet to be approved.
Thankfully, Americans who suffer from this debilitating condition can gain access to this
precious substance in Mexico via American urologist Alejandro Lira Dale, MD who has been
treating patients with much success. Fifty CC bottles of hyaluronic acid (Cystistat) are flown
from Ireland to Mexico City and onto Tijuana. Patients are taught to use a tiny pediatric feeding
catheter to instill the hyaluronic acid and retain it for a couple of hours. This is done every two
weeks for three or four months, then twice a month and then finally, once a month. At $250 a
bottle (same price as the U.K.), it is quite expensive, however, it is a game changer for patients
suffering from interstitial cystitis and chronic UTIs.
Replenishing the GAG layer in the bladder is a cornerstone in the therapy of interstitial cystitis
and also proven to be an effective treatment for overactive bladder, radiation cystitis and
recurrent urinary infections. It should also be noted that the use of intravesical substances (placed in the bladder) extends to antibiotics as well, eliminating side effects and systemic toxicity.
If you have recurrent and chronic urinary infections or interstitial cystitis, contact me for more information and care.
